An English woman has invented a gadget she hopes will ease the worldwide epidemic of drink spiking and date rape. Exeter's Dawn Dines had developed a range of plastic lids which stop drugs from being easily slipped into glasses, and she has won the support of several British police forces. An invention by an Exeter woman could ease the problem of drink spiking and date rape. The product is currently being trialled it the UK. Research shows that in Britain more than 60 per cent of drink spiking takes place in clubs and pubs, and women aged 18-30 are the main targets. Dines says, "I think for the community as a whole, it's going to make many people feel a lot safer. It's not a total prevention, but what it will do is make it a lot more difficult for someone to slip something into your drink." (JB/WNWCCB/SC)
