PROVO -- It's not every day that brothers get to spend their time together as players on a team. For freshman Kyle Collinsworth, the opportunity to play with his older brother Chris at BYU was too much to pass up.
"We're really close; we're like best friends," Kyle said. "Some brothers aren't close but we're close. We do a lot of things together."
Graduating from Provo High School, Kyle had offers from Kansas, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Utah, Marquette, Virginia, Stanford and USC to play for their basketball program.
However, Kyle chose to stay with his brother and friend Brandon Davies to play for BYU.
"At first, people just assumed that I would go to BYU," Kyle said. "I had options and wanted to consider all my options. It just came down to I just pretty much wanted to just stay here with my family and Chris."
As teammates, Kyle, Chris and Brandon got the opportunity to help their team win the state title during Kyle's freshman year.
Chris and Brandon eventually moved on to play for BYU, with Kyle shortly joining after.
"Honestly we never really talked about it that much, it just happened," Kyle said.
Asked about their different styles of play, Kyle said, "Chris is more of an energy guy; a great rebounder. I'm just more of a slasher, finisher above the rim."
Following the season, Kyle will be traveling to Russia to serve a two-year LDS mission.
