SALT LAKE CITY - High school football in Utah seems to get better every year and so does the level of talent in the state. The growing number of kids receiving FBS (Division I) scholarship offers is evidence of that growth.
This year, 30 Utah high school seniors signed with FBS schools while 10 other Juco players and transfers from Utah also landed scholarships. There will also be a number of kids who sign to play with smaller schools, junior colleges or walk-on at FBS programs like Jordan quarterback McCoy Hill who will walk-on at BYU.
According to MaxPreps.com, Utah ranks 20th out of 50 states in FCS recruits despite having just the 34th largest population in the country. Utah has more recruits than New York, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Wisconsin and Arkansas just to name a few.
Leading the way in Utah is Bingham High School. The Miners had 8 players sign with FBS schools (BYU-4, Utah-2, Utah St. 2) in addition to 6 players signing with a combination of FCS, Division II and Juco schools.
