OREM, Utah (AP) -- Raheem Singleton and Troy Barnies led the way as Maine scored the first 10 points of overtime en route to a 71-66 victory against Utah Valley on Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
Barnies, who led the Black Bears with 16 points, had a layup and dunk and Singleton (15 points) made three jumpers while Utah Valley went scoreless for the first 4:27 of the extra period. A Singleton basket with two seconds on the clock tied the game at 58-58 at the end of regulation.
Geddes Robinson led the Wolverines with 17 points, and Ben Aird and Jordan Swarbrick added 16 points each.
Malachi Peay had 13 points and Gerald McLemore 11 for Maine.
Holton Hunsaker scored 12 points for Utah Valley.
