NAOMI CAMPBELL broke down in tears during the recent taping of former catwalk rival TYRA BANKS US talk show when she realised the Victoria's Secret star and her sick mother shared the same birthday.
Campbell agreed to sit down with Banks for the TV summit meeting, which aired on Friday (18NOV05), in an attempt to end their long-running feud, which began with a nasty encounter backstage at a fashion show in Paris, France in 1991.
Banks recalled a number of similar spats and revealed to Campbell, "That experience between you and I was one of the most difficult times in my entire life."
The British beauty attempted to defend herself and comments she had made to hurt Banks, insisting she didn't remember many of them, adding, "I didn't know myself at that age, especially in such a whirlwind career."
But the tears started flowing when Campbell revealed her former rival not only looked like her mother VALERIE, but shared her 4 December birthday.
The revelation brought up many issues for Campbell, whose mum is currently in the midst of a cancer battle.
She told Banks, "My mother has breast cancer and also cancer in the arms and she's right now in America having treatment... I'm her only daughter... and my mother's really been the only one there for me.
"I'm very optimistic and so is she. They have incredible doctors in America."
Asked why Banks' links to her mother brought her to tears, the British model added, "It was a whole bunch of things and that just put the lid on it for me." (KL/WNV/IG)
