There's something funny about Sela Ward's return to ABC.

Thesp, who starred in the Alphabet's "Once and Again," is set to come back to the network in a half-hour comedy being developed by scribe-exec producer Don Todd ("Life as We Know It"). Ward will also serve as a producer on the Touchstone Television project, while Lindy DeKoven is aboard as a nonwriting exec producer.

Untitled skein will follow the lives of four women in a small Southern town.

Ward is in the middle of a multi-episode arc on Fox's "House." Role has added some extra buzz to the already hot medical drama, with Ward and star Hugh Laurie recently appearing on the cover of TV Guide together.

On the bigscreen, Ward's recent credits include "The Day After Tomorrow" and "Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights." Thesp's other major series role was on the NBC sudser "Sisters."

ABC project would be Ward's first stab at the half-hour comedy form.

Todd's credits include "Dave's World" and "I'm With Her."
