SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah Blaze is pleased to announce the signing of former University of Utah WR Brent Casteel (5-10, 200, Utah). Casteel will return to Utah after being drafted by the Cleveland Browns of the NFL in 2009.

"I'm looking forward to getting out there with the team and to play again in front of Utah fans," said Casteel. "I feel like my style of play is dynamic on both sides of the ball and can bring a whole new excitement to the game."

With the Utes, he was a three-year starter and one of the team's top receivers and rushers. Casteel was an honorable mention All-American as a freshman and second-team all-conference as a sophomore. He tallied 128 career receptions at Utah, tying for seventh all-time, while totaling 1,652 receptions yards, ranking 11th. His 17 career touchdowns are tied for sixth and holds 11th place in career all-purpose yards with 3,012. Casteel also recorded 33 kickoff returns for 715 yards with 11 punt returns for 94 yards.

"We are extremely pleased to be able to sign Brent. He is a welcome addition to our football club as we strive to become a championship caliber team," said Blaze Head Coach Ron James. "His high level of success on the field, in addition to his leadership skills, are two crucial qualities we need on the field this upcoming season."
