Ruby Westfall is only in the fourth grade, but she already knows how to find a gem in the rough while thrift-store shopping with her actress mom.

She recently transformed her mid-century basic bedroom into a fantasy suite with funky furnishings, eye-catching colors, Japanese accents and fake fur. From her room decor to her personal fashion style, Ruby walks on the wild side.

STYLE: Rock 'n' roll meets funky Harajuku (Japan's colorful cartoonlike fashion trend)

STYLE INSPIRATION: "Fresh Fruits" by Shoichi Aoki

CURRENT OBSESSION: Vintage Troll dolls (she looks for the '60s dolls at thrift stores including Thrift World in Lewisville); she also collects My Scene Barbies, Bratz dolls and pig stuffed animals.

SEE HER SHOPPING: Paul Frank, Wal-Mart, Target and thrift stops

FUN FACT: All of Ruby's furniture is either a thrift-store find or family hand-me-down.

FAVORITE THING IN HER ROOM: The desk she bought at a thrift store and painted pink

CURRENTLY READING: "A Series of Unfortunate Events" books by Lemony Snicket

BEDTIME: Between 8:45 p.m. and 9 p.m.

FAVORITE COLORS: Hot pink and black

Paint choice: Sherwin-Williams' Ice Plant

FAVORITE WEB SITE: www.girlprops.com

DECOR TIP: A rug is a rug. (She used a bright blue bath mat for a foot rug near her reading chair.)

IN HER BOOM BOX: Anything from the early '80s, Barbra Streisand and Broadway musicals

WHEN SHE GROWS UP SHE WANTS TO BE: A singer, Broadway actress or fashion designer
