PROVO -- BYU Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall spends a lot of time reading books to help him improve as a person and as a coach. Often, he and Chris Petersen, head coach of the Boise St. Broncos, share ideas about their program and what they are currently reading.
This week, Coach Mendenhall discusses a book recommended by Coach Petersen, called "The Rhythm of Life," by Matthew Kelly.
Mendenhall said the book is about "maintaining and having the best chance to reach your potential in life, no matter what you do."
One of the quotes that Mendenhall highlighted was: "Greatness should never be confused with fame, fortune, status, or power; these are only passing illusions. Greatness is to become more fully yourself with each passing day."
In the position that Coach Mendenhall is in, he knows that it is easy to hear what others say and let it define him. However, he believes that this should not be the case.
"Becoming the best version of yourself is, is what my intent is," Mendenhall said, "and what I think is most important."
