It’s never an easy task to go to the scene where you know someone has died. I had that experience again today as a motorcyclist was hit while driving along 850 East in Lehi near Mill Pond.
The Police say the motorcyclist lost control and slid his bike right into an oncoming suv. As a bystander it’s hard to think how tough it must be for the driver of the suv and especially for the victim’s family.
It makes me think about the many times I thought about getting a motorcycle as a high school student. My father basically gave me two options. Buy a motorcycle and never drive one of his vehicles again. Or don’t buy a motorcycle and retain my driving privileges with the family car.
Well, I never bought a motorcycle figuring transportation equals freedom as a teenager and since it’s cold much of the year where I’m from a bike wouldn’t be enough. And I suppose after seeing what happened today I should be grateful for a firm standing father.
But I still really get that urge to own a motorbike. Maybe someday. As for right now my thoughts are focused back on the tragedy I’m reporting on.
