In times when money is tight and people are looking for ways to save, why not start by looking in the front yard? It's possible thanks to a Lehi company that your landscaping may be able to save you money.
Lehi Block's trademark patented product, the ArtStone Block, is designed not only to simplify do-it-yourself projects, but also requires little or no maintenance. Strength and durability are key features of this block that produces beautiful results in yard and other commercial projects. If you look around, you may be able to find it in places around your community such as Shriner's Hospital or at the Lehi Legacy Center. The best part is that the product was created right here in Utah. When we purchase a product made in Utah, it has the effect of adding $4-$6 to our local economy.
Art and Alta Powell chose to move to Utah for their family. They started their own business, filling an industry need that Art was well qualified for. He had spent years working as a concrete construction superintendent for Utah Construction Company, which proved invaluable to his new endeavor. The day after Thanksgiving in 1945 Art started Lehi Block Company with a $500 loan from his father-in-law. Along the way, he created the patented ArtStone Block.
Sixty five years later, Lehi Block is now supplying a large percentage of quality block products for the construction industry throughout the Intermountain West. The company supports a major market in outdoor landscaping products. Concrete pavers are popular for driveways and walkways. Lehi Block's pavers can be found at the Salt Palace Convention Center, Snow Park Lodge in Deer Valley and BYU's football stadium. Although the company ships its products to other Western states, the 100-mile radius along the Wasatch Front is Lehi Block's largest market.
Art's four children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren continue his business legacy today. It's not uncommon to find Lehi Block employees working all hours of the day and night. That's because they are following Art and Alta's belief that the only company worth creating is one built firmly around the principles of honesty and hard work. With integrity to their service, it's little wonder that contractors, engineers and architects consider Lehi Block a trusted partner.
