LOS ANGELES, Oct 25, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- There's a new Hollywood film in the works about a female warrior descended from Mary Magdalene who fights to rid the world of evil.
"Magdalena" is based on a Top Cow comic book, Daily Variety reported Tuesday.
It's being produced by Platinum Studios and Valhalla Motion Pictures, which are also working on another comic book to film feature, "Atlantis Rising."
Valhalla's Gale Anne Hurd, who produced "Terminator" and "Aeon Flux" said she was drawn to "Magdalena's" strong female lead.
It's "exactly the kind of project we love, a strong female lead character, a story with rich mythology and compelling characters," Hurd said. "The religious overtone adds a new dimension to the adventure story."
