NEW YORK, Oct 20, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Victoria Gotti is running legal interference to make sure she gets paid off by her ex-husband before the Internal Revenue Service seizes his assets.
Gotti claims she is owed $6 million under the terms of her divorce from Carmine Agnello, who owes the Internal Revenue Service $11 million.
After his 2001 racketeering conviction, Agnello reluctantly agreed to start liquidating some 25 properties to pay the IRS.
However, Gotti had attorney Matthew Dollinger kill two commercial property sales this month, and he said this was only the beginning, the New York Post reports.
"We do not believe the government will be able to establish a lawful right to forfeit any of those properties," Dollinger said.
In turn, Assistant U.S. Attorney Edward Newman claims Gotti has no claim to the properties.
