It's not just football widows who can learn the basics from "Get Your Own Damn Beer, I'm Watching the Game!" (Rodale, $14.95 paper).
Even though the subtitle for the book is "A Woman's Guide for Loving Pro Football," those guys who are just novices in understanding how the game works also will get valuable insights into the tiniest details.
It's that type of inside-football minutiae you would expect from co-author Holly Robinson Peete, who is married to former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Rodney Peete.
"I'm convinced that if women understood the game of football ... they'd come to enjoy it a much as any guy," writes Holly Robinson Peete, co-star of the UPN comedy "Love, Inc.," who is best known for "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper."
What's a distraction is Peete's cutesy writing style. She comes off as sugary sweet and almost unsophisticated - totally out of line with the stylish urbanite that we've seen in her roles through the years.
Peete is at her most cloying when noting how "baby, I always keep my eye on my quarterback." Good for you, Hol.
Break out the Old Spice, guys: "We're fans, no different than any guy - except we usually smell better."
