NEW YORK, Oct 11, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Adrian Zmed -- "T.J. Hooker's" Officer Vince Romano -- has been promoted to captain -- ship captain Noah in the Off Broadway musical, "The Ark."

Zmed, who's actually an old hand in musicals, is taking over the lead role only a week before previews begin, Playbill reported Tuesday.

The Bible-inspired musical is scheduled to open at the 37 Arts Theatre Nov. 14 with previews set to begin Friday.

Music for "The Ark" was composed by Michael McLean and book and lyrics were written by McLean and Kevin Kelly.

Zmed appeared in Broadway's original "Grease" then sang the lead in Hollywood's "Grease 2." He has also played Noah before, Playbill noted, in Steven Schwartz's "Children of Eden" at the Paper Mill Playhouse.
