NEW YORK, Oct 4, 2005 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The U.S. rocker known only as Pink has aligned with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Pink took time from work on her upcoming album to perform a free concert in New York Friday night, MTV.com reports.
The singer said the cause is close to her because she recently had a friend die of breast cancer.
"I've done a lot for animals lately, but it's time to fight for women again," said Pink, who is an active member of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
Pink donated $50,000 to help breast cancer research.
"It's about time we find a cure," she said. "It's terrifying. Every three minutes a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer. ... It's really scary."
