Vickie Hall has been a licensed cosmetologist since 1970. She has always been a strong believer in making her services affordable. As such, she has built her salon, Vickie and Company, on the basis of providing affordable haircuts for men and women.
Vickie and Company is most known for its $6 haircuts — a draw for many customers and potential customers. The salon also offers hair color, perms, manicures, pedicures and various types of massage. Vickie says it's designed to be an affordable salon for regular people. She takes walk-in customers, which makes up a good percentage of the clientele.
Opening the business was a long road for Vickie. As a single mother, she was occupied with raising her children for many years. She worked in electronics at Hill Air Force Base but wanted to start a business that would provide steady income for retirement. In 2000, she purchased a mobile home with the intention to remodel it and turn it into a beauty shop. Unfortunately, the property where she put her new business ended up in a land dispute between Roy and West Haven and which city would annex the property.
Despite the conflict, Vickie and Company steadily grew to the point that she had several employees. Ultimately, a business owner ended up purchasing the home and her land, so she found another property in West Haven where the business is now located.
Vickie's goal now is for her business to continue growing, particularly the manicures, pedicures and massage portion of it. The success Vickie has already seen is due, in part, to the talented group of employees who offer only the highest quality of customer service. Without them, Vickie says Vickie and Company never would have been successful.
Haircuts are a service that everyone needs, so Vickie and her employees strive to make getting them an experience everyone can enjoy.
