Movie star SUSAN SARANDON is teaming up with the 'Death Row angel' she portrayed in hit movie DEAD MAN WALKING in a desperate effort to relocate the children left homeless by Hurricane Katrina.

The actress got in touch with Louisiana-based SISTER HELEN PREJEAN before the August (05) storm ripped through the Gulf Coast and devastated areas of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana - to make sure the nun was OK.

And now the THELMA & LOUISE star and the woman she portrayed on film are working together to make sure children they met while making Dead Man Walking are safe and rehoused.

Sarandon says, "I'm meeting with the church down there (Louisiana). I'm in touch with Sister Helen and she's been telling us of the places that need help.

"We reached out to the people we knew that were displaced, some of the kids from Dead Men Walking that were from Louisiana. We're keeping tabs on them." (KL&RXM/WN/ES)
