This is that time of year when the KSL Editorial Board unabashedly throws its support behind an effort to raise money for charity care at Primary Children's Medical Center.

The hospital's annual telethon broadcast on KSL Channel 5 begins tomorrow evening at 6:30 and continues through Sunday at 5. We urge you to tune in and make a pledge of support for one of the nation's best children's hospitals.

Primary Children's, of course, is "the only full-service pediatric hospital in the Intermountain West equipped to care for the total child." Care is provided in very specialized ways regardless of a family's ability to pay. Indeed, last year, the cost of charity care totaled more than $14.3 million. That covered more than 14-thousand charity-care patient visits.

Beyond the monetary aspects of care provided, though, are the countless joyous, even miraculous stories of lives prolonged and of children receiving renewed health. There is truly something special about Primary Children's Medical Center and the work that goes on there.

So, please, tune in to KSL Channel 5 Saturday evening through Sunday evening to enjoy entertainment as well as inspirational stories that are sure to touch the heart. Moreover, be prepared to generously contribute whatever you can.
