This is a great time of year for family recreation. Utah has a wealth of excellent outdoor activities for residents to enjoy. And thanks to Chad Booth and his company, At Your Leisure, discovering Utah's outdoor activities is much easier.

At Your Leisure provides local independent television programming. Chad says the Cottonwood Heights production company is unique because instead of creating programs to then find an audience for, it finds an audience and then builds programs for it. At Your Leisure is also the name of the company's flagship program that has been on the air for 18 years now and broadcasts on ABC 4 at 11 p.m. Saturday night and 9 a.m. Sunday mornings. Chad loves being able to provide wholesome entertainment and activity ideas for families to do together.

The company started back in 1992 during a terrible drought. The news was full of stories about water shortages, which especially affected the boating industry. People were afraid to go boating and were unclear about the concept of luxury taxes levied on boats.

Some of the boating dealers approached Chad with the idea of creating a local TV program to clarify some of the misunderstandings. He put together a series and searched for a network to air it. Boat World, Utah, as the program was called, ran for six weeks and by the end of the sixth week, Chad had 10 weeks booked for the following year. It became popular enough that only a few years later, Chad was creating the same kinds of programs in three separate states. In 2000, he added a second program, Utah Trail, a program about off-highway vehicles.

Today, At Your Leisure produces 52 programs per year that promote outdoor recreation around the state. Chad says the company is preparing to launch another show based around public affairs for county governments, but he's waiting for the right market conditions before doing so. At Your Leisure is one of the state's longest running local programs.
