I have seen many beautiful homes. Of course the size of these homes varies but one of the common elements is the collection of beautiful windows each home has. Windows are essential since they provide the homeowner the way to see out — to check what the weather looks like, to make sure the children are behaving or to watch for visitors. Of course, the windows are enhanced by having just the right window treatment.
Ric Bruce is happy to provide a wide range of window coverings through his business, Summit Shutters. Although blinds and plantation shutters are the most common items Ric sells, he is happy to special order other items a customer requests.
Ric has been in the window covering business for a long time. He partnered with a friend and started providing window coverings in his college days, and his early start helped him develop a strong knowledge base of the products and the industry. He sold that business and moved on to other opportunities. But in 1999 he returned to his roots and launched Summit Shutters in South Salt Lake.
The bulk of Summit Shutters' clientele comes from the contractor or building industry, but Ric sells a fair amount of products directly to the public as well. Most of the changes the business has undergone during its 10-year history have been evolutionary, such as switching to a computer-controlled system and becoming more automated. But he has also seen the quality of the window coverings increase. Many of his products are made locally using water-based materials, which makes them more environmentally friendly.
Summit Shutters is mainly concentrated along the Wasatch Front, but Ric ships products all over the West, from San Francisco to Denver. He anticipates increasing the value he offers to clients by increasing his range of design and installation services.
