SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Garland City residents are being asked to stay away from the Malad River as the city discharges sewage into it.
City officials say heavy rain has caused a sanitary sewer overflow problem in Garland City.
To relieve the problem and prevent sewage from backing up into homes, the city is discharging untreated sewage into the Malad River at 1400 South.
City officials will continue to discharge the sewage into the river until the overflow problem is under control.
The Malad River is NOT a source of drinking or irrigation water.
