With a long career in retail, it was only natural that Brenda Biljanic would look in that direction when she moved back to Salt Lake City some years ago. She decided she wanted to go into partnership with her mom, Mary Ann Biljanic, so in 1990, they began creating hand-painted and embellished T-shirts and vintage jackets. The products were so popular and the duo received so many requests for accessories that Brenda cleaned out her basement to open up a store.
In the beginning, customers shopped by appointment only, but the business grew so quickly that the space soon became too confined. Brenda and Mary Ann found a cottage-style Victorian home on 3300 South and felt it was the perfect location to open the doors on B.B.'s Apparel and Shoes to Boot.
B.B.'s Apparel and Shoes to Boot has an inventory that varies by season. The clothing includes anything from fun, casual weekend wear to jeans to business suits. Brenda's desire is to provide her customers with unique, diverse and fun fashion choices. She is constantly on the search for new designers and lines to add to the shop.
While the clothing is popular, Brenda and Mary Ann have also enjoyed diversifying their product selection to include accessories, jewelry and footwear. Brenda has had a lifelong passion for cowboy boots, so she also added them to the store's repertoire. Ever the creator, Brenda decided to take the boots up one notch and began designing custom cowboy boots just for the store. She is considering eventually offering special occasion and men's wear and creating an online store, but nothing is finalized yet.
Brenda's goal for B.B.'s Apparel and Shoes to Boot is to maintain what she feels put the business there in the first place: providing beautiful, sparkly, unique clothing for women in a fun and friendly environment.
