Doniak's goal pulls Wave into 1-1 draw with Orlando, and Louisville downs Dash 2-0

Makenzy Doniak scored in the 62nd minute to pull the San Diego Wave into a 1-1 draw with Orlando and snap the Pride's record eight-game winning streak in the National Women's Soccer League. Julie Doyle scored in the first half for the Pride, who remained unbeaten to start the season. The Pride are 8-0-4 and have scored in a club record 16 straight games dating to last season. Savannah DeMelo scored a breakthrough goal in the second half and then assisted on Parker Goins goal later in the half and Racing Louisville went on to defeat the Houston Dash 2-0.
England loses to Iceland in its last friendly before Euro 2024. Host Germany beats Greece

England was booed by some of its own fans after losing 1-0 to Iceland in its last friendly before Euro 2024. Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson left defender John Stones standing as he scored for Iceland in the 16th minute to bring back memories of one of England's lowest points of recent years, its 2-1 elimination by Iceland at Euro 2016. Host nation Germany needed substitute Pascal Gross' 89th-minute goal to beat Greece 2-1 a week before it opens Euro 2024 against Scotland in Munich. Poland beat neighbor Ukraine 3-1 and Scotland drew 2-2 with Finland.
Leverkusen makes French defender Jeanuël Belocian its first signing since winning German title

Bayer Leverkusen has signed 19-year-old French defender Jeanuël Belocian in the first new arrival since Xabi Alonso's team won the German league and cup double. Belocian, who has played twice for the France under-21 national team, arrives from Rennes on a contract through 2029. He played 39 times for Rennes since making his first-team debut in March 2022, including in the Europa League. Belocian was born on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. His older brother Wilhem is a two-time Olympic hurdler for France who has also won the European indoor title.
Josh Sargent out for Colombia friendly, could miss Copa America

United States forward Josh Sargent could miss Saturday's friendly against Colombia and could be dropped from the Copa America roster. A 24-year-old from O'Fallon, Missouri, Sargent scored 16 goals in 26 league games with Norwich in England's second-tier League Championship but finished the season while playing with foot swelling. After the U.S. plays Colombia at Landover, Maryland, it meets Brazil on Wednesday at Orlando, Florida. At the Copa America, the U.S. has first-round matches against Bolivia, Panama and Uruguay. Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi and Haji Wright are the other forwards on the U.S. roster.
Midfielder Sinead Farrelly of NWSL champion NJ/NY Gotham retires because of concussions

Midfielder Sinead Farrelly, who represented the United States early in her career and Ireland later, is retiring because of cumulative head injuries sustained throughout her career. The NJ/NY Gotham FC of the National Women's Soccer League made the announcement Friday, hours after placing the 34-year-old on season-ending injury due to post-concussive syndrome that will require rehabilitation to resolve. Farrelly made the decision after being told by a neurologist that continuing to play would leave her vulnerable to additional head injuries.
Teenage forward Leo Sauer included in Slovakia's squad for Euro 2024

Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona included 18-year-old Feyenoord forward Leo Sauer in his squad for the European Championship on Friday, along with 37-year-old right back Peter Pekarik. Sauer has just played in just one international so far but impressed on the wing for Feyenoord this season. Slovakia is entering its first major tournament since star playmaker Marek Hamšík retired last year and Calzona said his team will have to rely on the collective rather than individuals.
Liverpool chairman hopes for Premier League games in New York as FIFA reviews traditional rules

The chairman of Liverpool is "determined one day" to see the storied English soccer team to play a Premier League game in New York. Tom Werner detailed his hopes to the Financial Times in an interview published Friday, but the idea met immediate resistance from fans. The topic of top European leagues staging games abroad has been revived after FIFA recently opened a review of its rules blocking so-called "out-of-territory" games. The Premier League proposed in 2008 to stage an extra round of games each season outside England, but it met with strong opposition from supporter groups as well as FIFA. If FIFA changes its policy, the U.S. and Saudi Arabia are likely destinations.
Spain drops Cubarsí, Llorente and Aleix García from final Euro 2024 squad

Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has dropped Barcelona teenager Pau Cubarsí as well as midfielders Marcos Llorente and Aleix García from his final 26-man squad for the European Championship. However, de la Fuente has stuck with Real Betis forward Ayoze Pérez, who is with Spain for the first time, as well as 21-year-old Barcelona midfielder Fermín López. Spain is aiming for a record-extending fourth European Championship. It is in Group B with Italy, Albania and Croatia.
