The Giants got no-hit for six innings by Emmet Sheehan in his major-league debut. The Dodgers' bullpen imploded once again, giving up five runs after Sheehan departed. The Giants have won five in a row and eight of 11. Wilmer Flores hit a two-run homer for San Francisco in the seventh. The Dodgers rallied to tie it in the ninth on Freddie Freeman's single and had the potential winning run at third in the 10th but pinch-hitter Austin Barnes struck out to end the threat.

Teoscar Hernández hit a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning, rookie Bryan Woo struck out nine and the Seattle Mariners beat Chicago 3-2 for their third win in four games. Four Seattle pitchers combined to walk none and strike out 16, including Luis Robert four times and Jake Burger and Andrew Vaughn three times each. Hernández broke a 2-2 tie against Tanner Banks, driving a fastball 432 feet to center. He also tied the score 1-1 with an RBI double in the fifth and is hitting .364 with three homers and 10 RBIs in June.

Patriots player Jack Jones arrested at Boston airport after guns found in luggage, police say

Police say a New England Patriots player was arrested at a security checkpoint at Boston's Logan Airport after two guns were found in a carry-on bag. WCVB-TV reports Massachusetts State Police said 25-year-old Jackie K. Jones of Arizona was arrested Friday evening. Police say they were called to the security checkpoint in Terminal B at about 5:30 p.m. after two firearms were found in a traveler's carry-on luggage. Police say they identified the person as Jones and arrested him. Police say he could face multiple firearms charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and carrying a loaded firearm. It wasn't immediately known if Jones has a lawyer to comment.

Collier converted a three-point play on the Lynx's next possession to make it 74-70 with 1:06 left. McBride added two free throws with 18.2 seconds left for a five-point lead. Nikolina Milic had 10 points for Minnesota (3-7), which plays at Las Vegas on Sunday before returning to Los Angeles on Tuesday. Minnesota went on a 10-2 run to take a 63-57 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Vegas Golden Knights fans lined the Las Vegas Strip for a Stanley Cup victory parade and a rally in front of their home arena to mark the team's first NHL championship. Fan rallied in front of T-Mobile Arena after a motorcade along Las Vegas Boulevard Saturday night. At one point people separated barricades and climbed fences but the crowd otherwise remained orderly. Above the arena stage where the hockey players gathered with the trophy, a banner displayed the names of victims of the October 2017 mass shooting in Las Vegas that killed 58 people and injured more than 850. People in the crowd Saturday recalled the role the team played in helping to rebuild the spirit of the community.

Sheehan got his first strikeout in the second, when Mike Yastrzemski went down swinging on a 95.5 mph sinker. Sheehan allowed his first baserunner when Michael Conforto walked leading off the second. San Diego State University has sent a letter to the Mountain West seeking information related to a potential exit next year, according to a person familiar with the situation. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the situation. According to multiple reports, SDSU wants an extension of the deadline to give formal notice it is leaving the Mountain West to avoid having to pay double the exit fee. SDSU hopes to join either the Pac-12 or the Big 12 but has not received a formal invitation.

Sam Bachman pitched the final two innings his first save. Royals starter Brady Singer (4-6) allowed two runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings, walking two and striking out five. Kansas City was shut out for the ninth time this season.

The downtown Los Angeles skyline looms behind the trees backing the green. The 11th is pretty, but it's also one of the most interesting par 3s in the country. It's been a challenge in the first two days. The field produced only 15 birdies on the 11th in the first two rounds, fewer than every hole except the par-3 fourth's 14 birdies. With 106 combined bogeys or double bogeys, it ranked the fifth-toughest hole so far.

Jansen hit a two-run homer in the fifth off Martín Pérez. A day earlier, Jansen had two solo homers for their only runs in a loss at Baltimore. Gausman struck out four in his six innings to increase his AL-leading total to 121. Leody Taveras homered for the Rangers, who lost for the seventh time in nine games.

The Mystics led 54-38 at halftime after shooting 58% from the field. Sykes and Delle Donne combined for 28 points. Sykes was injured in a collision with 6:46 left in the third quarter and did not return. Delle Donne finished 7 of 12 from the field.

The PGA Tour and Saudi-backed LIV Golf are asking a federal court to dismiss their antitrust legal action against one another. The motion to dismiss was filed late Friday. This was not a surprise. The PGA Tour and Saudi Arabia's national wealth fund struck a shocking deal last week to form a business partnership that also includes the European tour. As part of that deal, they agreed to dismiss all litigation. The lawsuit dates to last August. It led to an appeal by the Saudis protesting they should have to testify as part of the discovery.

Red Sox pitcher Tanner Houck left Boston's matchup with the Yankees after being struck in the face with a line drive. With Boston leading 10-1 in the fifth inning, New York's Kyle Higashioka led off and fell behind 1-2 in the count, before lining Houck's 92 mph sinker straight up the middle and hitting Houck. Houck immediately went to the ground and stayed down for a few minutes while he was attended to by trainers. His face was clearly bleeding, but he was able to get to his feet and walk off the field on his own power.

Demoted All-Star right-hander Alek Manoah is making some strides since being sent to the Toronto Blue Jays' complex in Florida less than two weeks ago. Manager John Schneider says the team was pleased with his second simulated game, and expects him to throw at least one more before getting into a game with one of the team's minor league's affiliates. The 25-year-old Manoah was demoted from the majors June 6 after going 1-7 with a 6.36 ERA in 13 starts. He made his big league debut in 2020 by going 9-2 with a 3.22 ERA, then was 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA last year.

Wyndham Clark gets a little help from a good friend for US Open at LACC

Wyndham Clark is among the contenders going into the weekend of the U.S. Open. He attributes some of that to understanding how to play Los Angeles Country Club. Of course, he had a good caddie. Clark is good friends with P.J. Fielding, an LACC member. Fielding was an All-Ivy League player at Penn and now works for Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors. The course was closed to members last week. Clark asked his friend if he'd caddie for him. He says Fielding knows so much about the course that an 18-hole practice round felt like it was worth going 36 holes.

Dodgers' third baseman Max Muncy goes on IL with hamstring strain

Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Max Muncy has landed on the injured list with a strained hamstring. The team had been hoping to avoid making the move, but Muncy needs more time to recover after getting hurt in last weekend's game at Philadelphia. The move is retroactive to Tuesday, so he will be eligible to come off the IL in time for the Dodgers' series against Houston on June 23. Muncy has struggled offensively this season, hitting .191 with 18 home runs and 45 RBI in 60 games. It's his first time on the IL this season and fourth time in his career.

Mexico says more than 200 retired Mexican boxers who fought in California may be eligible for pensions. The little-known pension fund holds around $2.5 million. Boxers of any nationality over age 50 were eligible, as long as they had fought one fight per year for four years, or 75 professional rounds total, in California. Mexico's Foreign Relations Department said it had a list of 206 Mexican boxers who might be eligible. The department said it had already located 23 ex-boxers, and given checks to four of them.

Brittney Griner is honored in Washington despite missing Mercury's game with a hip injury

Brittney Griner did not play for the Phoenix Mercury in their first game in Washington since returning from her imprisonment in Russia. But the WNBA star was embraced by opponents and fans in the nation's capital down the road from many of the folks in the U.S. government who worked to get her home. Griner was out against the Mystics because of a hip injury that caused her to leave Phoenix's most recent game against Seattle. This is her first absence of the season. Griner got a standing ovation from the sellout crowd she she walked onto the court prior to tip-off.

US captain Becky Sauerbrunn to miss the World Cup with a foot injury

U.S. national team captain Becky Sauerbrunn has a right foot injury that will keep her out of the Women's World Cup next month. Sauerbrunn expressed her disappointment in a post on social media, saying: "Heartbroken isn't even the half of it." The U.S. women's national team is expected to unveil its 23-player roster for the World Cup next week. The two-time defending World Cup champions will play a send-off match against Wales in San Jose on July 9 before departing for the tournament, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The United States opens the World Cup with a match against Vietnam on July 22 in Auckland.

He says it would have been too distracting to bring up LIV Golf during the round but there were things he wanted to get off his chest. Cleveland Guardians right-hander Triston McKenzie has been scratched from his start against the Arizona Diamondbacks with right elbow discomfort. Right-hander Touki Toussaint will start Friday night's game after having his contract selected from Triple-A Columbus. The Guardians also designated catcher Mike Zunino for assignment and optioned right-hander Cody Morris to Columbus. McKenzie's elbow issue is the latest injury setback for the right-hander, who missed the first two months with a shoulder strain.

Part of a five-way tie for the first-round lead, the 5-foot Furue had an 11-under 133 total in the final event before the major KPMG Women's PGA Championship next week at Baltusrol in New Jersey. Hyo Joo Kim, Leona Maguire, Carlota Ciganda and Amy Yang were a stroke back. Defending champion Jennifer Kupcho was 9 under along with Manon De Roey, Aditi Ashok, Minjee Lee, Emily Kristine Pedersen and Lindsey Weaver-Wright. The shortest player on the LPGA Tour, the 23-year-old Furue won the Women's Scottish Open last summer.

Switzerland also has maximum points after success at Andorra 2-1. Giroud took only three minutes to head home Kingsley Coman's cross to make it 54 goals for Les Bleus in a 3-0 win at Gibraltar in Group B. Kane's penalty in a 4-0 win at Malta made it 56 goals for his nation in Group C. World Cup runner-up France has yet to concede a goal.

Canucks buy out Ekman-Larsson's contract, making the defenseman an unrestricted free agent

The Vancouver Canucks have bought out Oliver Ekman-Larsson's contract, making the 31-year-old Swedish defenseman an unrestricted free agent July 1. Vancouver said Friday it agreed to pay Ekman-Larsson $19.33 million, spread over the next eight years to reduce its salary-cap hit. Ekman-Larsson had four years and $29 million remaining on the eight-year, $66 million contract he signed with Arizona in 2018. The Canucks acquired the former Arizona captain and forward Conor Garland in a July 2021 trade with the Coyotes. Ekman-Larsson had two goals and 20 assists in 54 games for the Canucks last season, missing the final 27 games because of an ankle injury. In 902 games in 13 seasons with the Coyotes and Canucks, he has 135 goals and 304 assists.

Former Brazil and Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has come out of retirement to take charge of Atletico Mineiro. The 74-year-old Scolari announced the end of his coaching career in November but has contracted with the Brazilian club for 18 months. Soon after Athletico Paranaense informed that Scolari was leaving his job there as technical director, Atletico announced the signing with the coach who won the 2002 World Cup. Last year, Scolari took Athletico Paranaense to the final of the Copa Libertadores. He worked at the club last year from May to November and said he achieved all of his goals in football. He takes over from Argentine coach Eduardo Coudet.

The quadruple-bogey 8 Dustin Johnson took on the second hole at the U.S. Open was as bad as it gets. The 4-under par he shot over the next 16 holes was a reason he could smile at least a little. The two-time major champion finished the day with an even-par 70 despite an ugly start to his round. He says his ability to come back and make five birdies after the bad hole was because he's swinging better. The second round concluded with Johnson tied for sixth, four shots behind leader Rickie Fowler. Johnson is seeking his second U.S. Open title.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone says Aaron Judge received another platelet-rich plasma injection on his sprained right toe, but continues to make progress on an ailment that has him on the injured list for the second time this season. Boone said the hope is that the injection will help relieve some soreness he's been having and that he can avoid surgery.
