Bane scores 31, Morant 22 as Grizzlies beat Kings 125-110

Desmond Bane made six 3-pointers and scored 31 points as the Memphis Grizzlies defeated the winless Sacramento Kings 125-110. Ja Morant added 22 points, six assists and five rebounds. Brandon Clarke had 16 points, Tyus Jones added 14 and Jake LaRavia scored 13 off the bench for the Grizzlies. De'Aaron Fox had 27 points and six rebounds to lead Sacramento. Harrison Barnes scored a season-high 20 points and rookie Keegan Murray added 18. The Kings trailed by 16 early in the fourth quarter and cut it to six with 9:22 left before Memphis pulled away. Sacramento is 0-4 under first-year coach Mike Brown, its worst start since opening 0-5 during the 2019-20 campaign.

Luka Doncic had 41 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds, setting up three 3-pointers in overtime to send the Dallas Mavericks to a 129-125 victory over the Brooklyn Nets. Doncic found Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber and Reggie Bullock for 3s in the extra period as Dallas built a nine-point lead en route to its first road win of the season. Doncic also had two baskets in overtime on the way to becoming the 10th player in NBA history with three 40-point triple-doubles. Kyrie Irving scored 39 points and Kevin Durant had 37 for the Nets,
Gilgeous-Alexander scores 24 as Thunder beat Clippers again

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 24 points, and the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Los Angeles Clippers 118-110. Lu Dort scored 21 points and Aleksej Pokusevski added 15 for the Thunder, who also beat the Clippers 108-94 on Tuesday. Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard sat both games against the Thunder to manage his previously injured right knee. Paul George played for the Clippers after sitting out on Tuesday with an illness and finished with 10 points on 4-for-12 shooting. Norman Powell led the Clippers with 21 points. Reggie Jackson scored 18 and John Wall added 17 for Los Angeles.
Wizards G Delon Wright has strained hamstring

Washington Wizards guard Delon Wright has a strained right hamstring and the team says he will be re-evaluated in about three weeks. Wright was injured in the fourth quarter of Tuesday night's win over Detroit. He is in his first season with the Wizards and averaged 6.5 points and 22.8 minutes through his first four games. The Wizards host Indiana on Friday night.
Pelicans pick up options on Murphy, Lewis Jr.

The New Orleans Pelicans have exercised options for recent first-round draft choices Kira Lewis Jr. and Trey Murphy III. The club says it picked up a fourth-year option for Lewis. He's a point guard drafted 13th overall out of Alabama in 2020. New Orleans exercised a third-year option for Murphy. He's a wing player drafted 17th overall out of Virginia in 2021. Lewis hasn't played since last Dec. 8 because of a major knee injury from which he is expected to come back this season. Murphy has shot 41% from 3-point range and in four games this season has averaged 15.5 points. New Orleans' next game is at Phoenix on Friday night.
Mike Breen to receive Vin Scully sports broadcasting award

Hall of Fame broadcaster Mike Breen will receive the Vin Scully Award for Excellence in Sports Broadcasting, becoming just the second Fordham alumnus to receive the honor given by the university's media station. Breen, in his 30th year calling New York Knicks games and the voice of the NBA Finals on ABC, will receive the award from WFUV next Tuesday night. He was a 1983 graduate of Fordham. Scully began his Hall of Fame broadcasting career at Fordham, where he graduated in 1949. Scully, who died earlier this year, spent 67 years as the voice of the Dodgers, first in Brooklyn and then Los Angeles.
Blazers' Lillard has calf strain, re-evaluated in 1-2 weeks

The Portland Trail Blazers said Damian Lillard has a minor right calf strain and he'll be re-evaluated in one to two weeks. Lillard left the Blazers' game against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night because of a strained right calf. The team announced that the six-time All-Star had an MRI on Thursday that revealed a grade one, or minor, strain. Lillard came up limping with just over five minutes to go in the third quarter and headed for the locker room. He did not return and the Blazers lost, 119-98.
Utah visits Denver for conference showdown

The Nuggets will play host to conference opponent Utah. The teams meet Friday for the fiftieth time this season. Denver is 1-2 against the Northwest Division, and Utah is 2-0 against division opponents.
