If you dive back into the history books, you'll see animal prints taking over the early 20th-century fashion trends. Real leopard furs were magnificently huge in the 1920s, according to Harper's Bazaar. In more subtle ways, you'd see leopard print pop up in bathing suits, slips, handbags and more throughout the early decades of the 1900s.

While the trend would occasionally resurface throughout the rest of the 1900s, some might say it hasn't had a comeback quite like this past year or so. These are just a few ways animal prints are making a huge comeback.

Fashion

The style of real fur coats and accessories might be decades past, but the look of those iconic pieces is very much alive. You can find a chic lynx print bootie, a svelt leopard print dress and so much more in nearly any apparel store today.

Vogue says these animal prints are a way to add a wild edge to your basics, so if you've been feeling a little plain Jane lately, consider adding a leopard print bootie or skirt to your wardrobe.

Home decor

While minimalism and neutrals dominated the last several years, trends are shifting more to bright colors, bold patterns and statement pieces that wow. This animal print trend in wallpaper made a big splash in home decor in 2018, but now, two years later, there's an easier way to make a statement.

Blankets, throw pillows, wall art and more are easy ways to add some animal print personality to a room without dominating the space. Architectural Digest has a few recommendations and examples of what a room can look like with subtle (or bold) zebra stripes, lynx spots and cheetah prints.

It's also important to remember that if you like to change your decor like you change your clothes, make sure your big pieces — sofa, chairs, wallpaper — are classic or timeless pieces. If you let your easily replaceable pieces set the trend, it's much easier to swap them out when you're ready for a change.

Accessories

Of course, it's fun to add a little personality and wildness to your everyday trinkets and tools. You can find a myriad of fun animal print blow dryers, hair styling tools and brushes in stores right now. Outside of the beauty industry, you can see the animal print trend popping up in phone cases, backpacks, stationery, graphic design and more.

For example, maybe you want to add a little flair to your home fix-it mistakes with this leopard print Duct tape. Or you can see the trend surfacing in pet accessories, like this animal print harness and leash set.

Even though modern society has seen the animal print trend surface several times over the decades, it's fascinating to see all of the ways it can still make a comeback.
