SALT LAKE CITY — Utah cut Oregon’s lead to 4 points late in the third quarter, but that was as close as the Utes would get as Oregon rolled to a 41-20 victory to snap a three-game skid.

Utah (4-4, 1-4) scored its first touchdown on a broken play in which Tyler Huntley’s pass was tipped at the line and landed in offensive lineman Darrin Paulo’s hands while on the ground in the end zone. The touchdown was reviewed and later confirmed to cut into Oregon’s 11-point lead.

Oregon (5-4, 2-4) would go on to score 17 unanswered points on a made 38-yard field goal and back-to-back touchdowns. Oregon’s last touchdown, which came with just 2 minutes left in the game, was a 21-yard rushing touchdown by Kani Benoit, capping off a 347-yard rushing effort from the Ducks.

Utah would go on to score another touchdown with just under 10 minutes to play on a 29-yard pass from Huntley to Siaosi Wilson, cutting Oregon’s lead to 14 points. Huntley finished the game with an improved 25-of-43 passing for 293 yards and two touchdowns.

In his return to Oregon, Utah receiver Darren Carrington II led the Utes in receiving yards, finishing the game with 130 yards on nine catches. Carrington was met with boos from the crowd after spending three seasons with the Ducks before being dismissed from the program earlier this year.

The Utes dropped their fourth-straight game and have an uphill battle to become bowl eligible with only four games left in the season. Utah will return home to face UCLA in its annual blackout game on Friday, Nov. 3, at 7:30 p.m. Mountain time.
