SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Duchesne County Jail nurse has been charged with negligent homicide in connection to death of an inmate.
State prosecutors charged 50-year-old Jana Clyde on Monday on accusations she didn't do enough to care for the victim, 21-year-old Madison Jensen. Authorities say Jensen had requested medical help.
Jensen had been in jail a few days for internal possession of heroin and marijuana and suffered dehydration and weight loss before she died Dec. 1, 2016.
It's unknown if Clyde has an attorney. She didn't have a listed phone number.
A statement by the Duchesne County Sheriff's Office says Clyde was placed on leave Monday following the criminal charge.
Jensen's family has also filed a federal civil suit against Duchesne County that is pending.
