WASHINGTON, D.C. — Real Salt Lake’s last trip to RFK Stadium to face DC United will last an extra day.

Officials halted the interconference Major League Soccer match in the 29th minute after heavy rain in the D.C. area made the field unplayable. The match will resume Sunday evening at 5 p.m. MDT at the 28:29 mark.

The host United came out strong, registering six shots in the first half hour before the suspension.

RSL put up just one shot, a free kick by Joao Plata that caromed off the defensive wall in the 12th minute, before the heavy deluge.

Real Salt Lake is 7-7-5 all-time against DC, including an 0-6-3 mark in the nation’s capital that includes a 6-4 loss in 2014 — the last time the interconference foes faced off on the Atlantic seaboard.
