PROVO — Add another voice to #PuntersArePeopleToo.

The social movement and hashtag propelled by former Utah punter Tom Hackett was boosted by another local punter Thursday.

BYU senior Jonny Linehan released his first … single, we’ll call it ... on YouTube. The New Zealander and former BYU rugby star put together a parody of country star Luke Bryan with a track title, “Puntin,’ Kickin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”

The song isn’t without its one-line wonders and an ode to the most special of special team players.

“Just read our tweets, check our cleats, and you’ll see that we are athletes,” Linehan sings to the tune of Bryan’s “Huntin’, Fishin’ and Lovin’ Every Day.”

Linehan averaged 42.7 yards on 62 punts in his first season of college football eligibility last year, including 10 punts of 50 yards or more and 20 punts down inside the 20 with just one blocked kick.

The song also gives an emotional tribute to Michigan State’s Mike Sadler and Nebraska’s Sam Foltz, two punters who lost their lives in a tragic car accident while returning from a kicking camp in Wisconsin this summer. Louisiana State kicker Colby Delahoussaye was also injured in the accident.

“Special teams is a close-knit family, and family always comes first,” Linehan narrates. “God bless you, and we miss you.”
