Welcome to KSL Golf, where we are at Alpine Country Club, where tomorrow they will begin the 118th Utah State Amateur on Monday.

More than 800 players tried to qualify, and 288 made it. Monday and Tuesday starts stroke play, with the top 64 beginning match play Wednesday before the championship Saturday.

Jordan Rogers is the reigning champ, but he will not be back to defend his title. The former BYU golfer turned pro shortly after winning the state am. Rhett Rasmussen is one of the top amateurs in the state, but he is playing in a worldwide amateur tournament in San Francisco.

This year's state amateur tournament is wide open.
