It's one true sign that Old Man Winter is on its way out: the sound of snow geese in their annual congregation around Delta.

Each February, thousands of these beautiful white birds use the fields and water in Delta as a rest stop on their northern migration. These geese spend the winter in the Imperial Valley in California, feeding and preparing for the 3,000-mile trip to Canada's Northwest territories.

In Delta, it's a wildlife site unparalleled in Utah. Check out the spectacle on Feb. 27-28 with the annual Snow Goose Festivals. The festival includes a skeet shoot, a 5K run and other activities. If you plan on hunting snow geese in Millard County, the start of the hunt has been moved to March 2 to avoid conflicts with the Snow Goose Festival.
