The burbot is not a native Utah fish and is unwelcome in all Utah waters. Also known as ling, eelpout, lawyer or dog fish. The burbot is the only freshwater member of the cod family and is closely related to the Atlantic cod. Some biologists speculate that the burbot was once a saltwater cod before becoming landlocked millions of years ago.
