PROVO — Fans coming to a BYU football game in 2019 may find something a little different about the Cougars' home venue.

BYU released a first look Friday at the renovated LaVell Edwards Stadium, which will undergo construction through the offseason and be ready in time for the 2019 season. The biggest change will include four structural segments that will connect the four main stadium stands to the mezzanine level, providing a walkway between sections so that fans won't be forced to return to ground level.

The university will also add men's and women's restrooms to the north and south mezzanine levels.

No change to stadium capacity is expected with the 63,470-seat venue. The stadium's current capacity was downsized in 2003, when the university added luxury club seating to the east stands that brought capacity down from just over 65,000.

BYU's home schedule in 2019 includes visits from USC, Washington, Boise State, Liberty and Idaho State. The Cougars kick off the season Aug. 29 against rival Utah.
