SALT LAKE CITY – Utah Blaze coach Ron James announced Thursday the re-signing of WR AARON BOONE (6-3, 208, Kentucky) to a three-year contract. Boone was one of three Utah receivers to set a new Arena Football League record last season by recording more than 1,500 yards, 100 receptions and 20 touchdowns in the same year. “We are extremely pleased to re-sign one of the trio of the record-setting wide receivers that helped the Blaze offense to be one of the most prolific in the AFL last season,” James said. “Aaron has been a valuable part of the Blaze organization and we are looking forward to his contributions in the 2009 campaign and beyond.” Boone, who finished with 135 receptions for 1,526 yards and 23 touchdowns, is the second of the trio to re-sign with the Blaze. WR HUEY WHITTAKER (6-5, 220, South Florida), who had 126 catches for a team-high 1,541 yards and 32 touchdowns, signed a three-year deal with Utah in late July. WR J.J. McKELVEY (6-3, 227, Clemson), the third member of elite receiving group, finished with 121 catches for 1,533 yards and a team-high 38 touchdowns. Boone is the fourth player to re-sign with the Blaze this season. DL CHRIS JANEK (6-1, 314, Wisconsin) signed a two-year contract earlier this week, while OL DEVIN WYMAN (6-8, 350, Kentucky State) signed a two-year deal last week.
