BANGKOK (AP) — British Airways halted all flights to China and American Airlines suspended Los Angeles flights to and from Shanghai and Beijing as efforts to contain a new virus intensifies. Several other airlines including Finnair, Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific and Singapore-based Jetstar Asia are reducing the number of flights to the country. British Airways said Wednesday it is immediately suspending all flights to and from mainland China after the U.K. government warned against unnecessary travel to the country. China has cut off access to Wuhan and more than a dozen other cities to prevent people from leaving and spreading the virus further. American cited plunging travel demand to the region from the West Coast.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — The Democratic caucuses next Monday and the nominating contests that follow will test whether voters see the GOP’s attacks on Joe Biden as a sign of his strength as a presidential candidate or a harbinger of his potential weaknesses in a general election match-up with President Donald Trump. Biden and his campaign argue that Republican attacks boost the former vice president's argument that Trump and Republicans want to face anyone but Biden in November. Biden mocked Florida Sen. Rick Scott on Wednesday for running a digital ad in Iowa repeating debunked allegations about Biden that helped launched Trump's impeachment.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump's defenders are asserting at his Senate trial that a trade of U.S. military aid for political favors _ even if proven _ could not be grounds for his impeachment. It's a striking shift from Trump's claims of “perfect” dealings with Ukraine. His Republican defenders are trying to head off a Senate summons of witnesses, especially former Trump national security adviser John Bolton, who says in a new book that he personally heard Trump talk about that trade of aid for a political favor. Republicans appear intently focused on bringing the impeachment trial to a vote of acquittal, possibly in a matter of days.

UNDATED (AP) — Vanessa Bryant made her first public comment since the helicopter crash that killed her husband Kobe Bryant, one of their daughters and seven others. She took to Instagram to thank people for the global outpouring of support since the tragedy. Bryant also announced the formation of a fund to help support the other families that were affected by the crash. She said she is “completely devastated” by the loss of her husband and her “loving, thoughtful and wonderful" daughter, Gianna.

DALLAS (AP) — Police say more than 20 Dallas police officers have been suspended without pay following an internal investigation. The probe found former members of the department's vice unit failed to account for money won in gambling stings, document their use of police funds and properly place seized property into evidence, among other policy violations. Police say none of the officers will face criminal charges. Twenty-two officers received between three and 20 days suspension without pay. Dallas Police Chief U. Reneé Hall says the discipline was necessary.
