PROVO, Utah (AP) — The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office says one driver is dead and another suffered critical injuries after a two-car crash on U.S. Highway 189 in Provo Canyon.
The sheriff's office says the Monday night crash temporarily closed U.S. Highway 189 from Provo Canyon to Heber in both directions.
According to a statement from the Utah Highway Patrol, a northbound Chevrolet Trailblazer crossed into the southbound lane, hitting a Toyota Camry nearly head-on.
The statement says the Toyota Camry swerved to the right in an attempt to avoid a collision.
The sheriff's office says the Camry's driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Trailblazer's driver was taken to a hospital with critical injuries.
