FELTON, Del. (AP) — Delaware State Police say a portable meth lab found giving off smoke in a trash can has forced a home evacuation.
A police statement says troopers went to the home in Felton early Friday following a report of a domestic complaint. Authorities say a resident barricaded himself in a bathroom, but was later taken into custody.
Police say the resident had discarded an active one-pot meth bottle in a trash can outside and it began to smoke. Troopers evacuated the home and called fire and environmental control officials.
After the area was rendered safe, authorities said, a search of the home turned up equipment and ingredients to manufacture methamphetamine. They say 37-year-old Lawrence Grimm was charged with operating a clandestine lab.
It wasn't immediately known if Grimm had a lawyer.
