MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (AP) — A body found in Moncks Corner has been identified as a Berkeley County high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a teenage student.

The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office tells news outlets in a statement that deputies performing a welfare check found 51-year-old Donald Blair Sr. dead Wednesday near the Cypress Gardens Boat Landing after he missed a meeting with the school district.

The county coroner's office says Blair died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The Goose Creek High School mechatronics teacher had been placed on administrative leave following his arrest Monday on criminal sexual conduct and sexual battery charges.

Blair was accused of having a sexual relationship at the school with a female student, who was 15 years old at the time, in late 2014 and 2015.
