CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) — Rep. Donna Edwards is scheduled to attend an event that will highlight an initiative aimed at improving the ability of schools to provide healthy meals to school children.
She is attending the Team Up for School Nutrition Success Initiative in Capitol Heights on Monday.
Edwards, a Maryland Democrat, will be joined by Katie Wilson. She is the deputy undersecretary for food nutrition and consumer services at the U.S. Agriculture Department.
Joan Shorter, director of food and nutrition services for Prince George's County public schools, also is scheduled to attend.
The initiative is a peer-to-peer mentoring program for schools nationwide.
