It's not often an event like the Major League Lacrosse All-Star game makes news in the Beehive State.
But it's not often that a "local" scores the game-winner, either.
University of Utah lacrosse assistant coach Will Manny had three goals and an assist, including the game-winner during a golden-goal overtime, to help the Major League Lacrosse All-Stars rally to stun the U.S. men’s national team 15-14 in overtime Thursday at Harvard University in Boston.

"It's what we said in the locker room," said Manny, who currently plays for the New York Lizards in the MLL. "It's going to be a tight game, and we'll see what happens. That's why lacrosse is a great game."
The All-Stars trailed by as much as 14-8 in the fourth quarter after rallying from an 8-7 deficit at halftime. Manny gave the All-Stars their edge late in the first half with a ridiculous airborne-goal to end the half.
Manny was named All-Star Game MPV, an award that granted him $100,000 from league sponsors that he said he will donate to fellow Utah assistant coach Adam Ghitelman’s foundation.

A native of Long Island, New York, Manny played college lacrosse at UMass before moving to Boston to work as an assistant manager for Bank of America. He went to graduate school at Wagner for an MBA, where he ran the offense for the New York-based college, before joining Utah coach Brian Holman’s staff in Salt Lake City three years ago prior to the club team moving to Division I status Sunday.
Watch out for that … ball
Belgium and England were playing an unsure game in their final group match at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
Both teams had already clinched a spot in the knockout rounds, but the loser of Thursday’s match would likely gain access to the "easier" side of the bracket, which kicked off Saturday.
But after Adnan Januzaj put Belgium on top, his teammates still wanted to celebrate. That’s where things got interesting.
Michy Batshuayi pulled the ball out of the back of the net after Belgium’s lone goal, and booted it away in ravenous ecstasy. But the ball caromed off the post — and right back into his face.

To his credit, Batshuayi, who plays for Chelsea FC in England, took the mistep in stride, continuing the rest of the match and never letting on like he had just taken a boot to the face.
For the win, Belgium will face Japan in the Round of 16. Their side of the bracket also includes Brazil, Mexico, France, Argentina and Uruguay, among others.
England took the loss to draw Colombia in the Round of 16. Spain and Croatia highlight their side of the bracket.
Multi-sport athlete
Odell Beckham Jr. has established himself as one of the better — or at least, flashier — receivers in the NFL in his four seasons with the New York Giants.
But the man who perfected the one-handed catch also be a budding baseball star?
The New York Yankees allowed Beckham to take batting practice at Yankee Stadium before Friday's game against the Boston Red Sox. And while he didn't go yard immediately, the 6-foot slugger eventually drilled a shot over the left-centerfield wall that makes you remember why the man with the third-most touchdowns in the league since 2014 is so fun to watch.
