Outlook
With the core of high pressure moving off the coast of California, this may just open the door for a little bit of improvement in air quality. As high pressure moves furthern away from Utah we will likely see some increase wind at higher levels of the atmosphere. This could serve to break the cap of the inversion a little, that means air quality could improve a touch this weekend. High pressure then moves back into the Great Basin, strengthening inversions yet again early next week. Next chance for a storm is Jan 22-23. - Matt Johnson, KSL Weather 1.15.26
