BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi officials say separate attacks targeting the military and a marketplace in Baghdad have killed six people, including members of the security forces.

Police officials say the first attack took place on Friday morning, when three mortar shells slammed into a military base in the town of Musayyib, killing two soldiers and wounding nine. Musayyib is about 60 kilometers (40 miles) south of Baghdad.

Hours later, a roadside bomb struck a military convoy, killing an army intelligence officer and a soldier near the city of Samarra, 95 kilometers (60 miles) north of Baghdad.

Other police officials say a bomb at an outdoor market in eastern Baghdad killed two shoppers and wounded eight.

All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the media.
