WILLARD, Box Elder County — A 44-year-old pilot died on Tuesday after crashing a plane in Box Elder County.

The pilot, a man from the Salt Lake area, was found dead when responders located the crash, according to the Box Elder County Sheriff's Office. The sheriff's office said the man was reported to be on a solo flight and was the only person aboard at the time of the crash.

FlightAware reported the plane crash occurred in Willard.

The crash was being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board, and the Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter helped locate the crash, according to the sheriff's office.
