CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming ranks seventh in the nation for educational quality according to a new report.
According to Education Week's Quality Counts report, released Wednesday, Wyoming scored an 80.3, or a B-minus, when graded using three metrics: chance for success, K-12 achievement and school finance.
Wyoming's best score came in the school finance category, where the Cowboy state earned an 89.5, the highest score in that category in the country.
State Superintendent Jillian Balow said in a statement that Wyoming has long been committed to funding education and that the state's overall high score is a testament to the great things lawmakers are doing for children.
Wyoming came immediately ahead of Pennsylvania, New York and Rhode Island, but just behind Connecticut and Maryland in the rankings. Massachusetts ranked highest with a score of 86.5.
