SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb. (AP) — The National Weather Service and local emergency management officials are offering a class Tuesday in Scottsbluff on how to spot and report severe weather.

Meteorologists will teach those in attendance how to identify severe thunderstorms and tornadoes and how to send those reports to the weather service office in Cheyenne, Wyoming, which has forecast and other responsibilities for western Nebraska.

People don't have to be official spotters in order to take the class, which is free.

The class is scheduled to run from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Harms technology center on the Scottsbluff campus of Western Nebraska Community College.
