LAS VEGAS (AP) — A wet Pacific storm has reached Las Vegas, breaking an 85-day spell without official measurable rainfall.
National Weather Service meteorologist Stan Czyzyk (SIH'-cik) said Friday that less than two-tenths of an inch of measurable rain at McCarran International Airport breaks a dry spell stretching back to Dec. 4.
Czyzyk notes there were two days with traces of rain during that period — on Jan. 31 and Feb. 6.
Lower parts of the Spring Mountains and Mount Charleston got more than an inch of rain on Friday, and at least a foot of snow was reported in higher elevations.
The Nevada Highway Patrol and Las Vegas police say roads are wet and slippery conditions are contributing to fender-benders.
But officials aren't reporting serious traffic accidents, flooding, mudslides or power outages.
