PROVO, Utah (AP) — Public health officials say it is once again safe to swim in parts of Utah Lake.

Officials at the Utah County Health Department say the lake's restrictions were downgraded after the latest testing showed toxic algae dissipating in the lake, the Jordan River and associated canals.

Water activities are now allowed in areas where there is no scum. There is still a caution advisory reminding visitors not to swim, boat or water ski in areas with algae scum.

Pets and livestock should also be kept away from the lake and anglers should clean fish thoroughly.

Health officials say they will continue monitoring the lake.
