SPARKS, Nev. (AP) — Sparks police say they have arrested a man accused of befriending a woman at a homeless shelter and taking her to his home where he beat and assaulted her.

Forty-three year old Randy Flores Jr. was booked Sunday on suspicion of sexual assault, kidnapping, battery causing substantial bodily harm and strangulation.

Sparks Police Sgt. Aaron Leary tells the Reno Gazette-Journal (http://on.rgj.com/1hxkvNV ) Flores allegedly beat the woman with his fists and a frying pan, taped her mouth with duct tape and sexually assaulted her.

Leary says the next morning the woman convinced him she had to see a doctor and he let her go.

Police say a search of the home found evidence related to the crimes.
